Winter Family Photography Session

Chase and Erika and their little guy Elias met me one chilly winter morning at the Glenmore Reservoir in Calgary for a family and maternity photography session. We spent some time outside and then finished the session at their cool home in the neighbourhood of Kensington.

I really appreciated how naturally affectionate they are because it gave me an opportunity to photograph who this family is as opposed to what they look like. I don’t generally do a lot of “look at the camera and smile”, especially with young children because I feel they become less spontaneous over time and more posed when a camera is around.

My job was made very easy because not only is this family friendly, they are so fun to hang out with. I also wanted to point out the little grey jacket that Elias is wearing is the same one Chase wore when he was a toddler, which is pretty special. I personally felt so touched by how happy this little guy was being cuddled by his parents.

After we went back to their home I did some more maternity shots of Erika, which I will be sharing in another post soon.
