This family shoot proves there is no reason to fear fall family photos on a cold day. It seems like the Fall lasted for about 5 mins in Calgary in 2018. The leaves turned and the temperature dropped dramatically not long after. I was still able to do a lot of sessions in the short window including this adorable family.
Shooting in Carburn Park is a must for me every year. It’s such a beautiful location and with the wildlife being used to people, it’s a great place to bring small children who are curious to see deer and birds up close.
I met this adorable family on a blustery, cold afternoon in Calgary. These kids were absolute troopers as we got them laughing while we explored the park. I’ve realized that sometimes, cold weather may not be a bad thing because siblings are more than willing to snuggle up beside each other when they are cold! Personal space goes out the door and everyone is happy to cuddle! All it takes for a successful shoot are frequent breaks for the kiddos to warm up and a willingness to do pretty much whatever it takes to make them laugh.
This shoot reinforced to me how when parents keep a fun and positive attitude, kids are willing to embrace any circumstance. Remember, all it takes is your photographer waiting for the right moment and you’d never know how cold they actually were.
I laughed so much with this family, they truly were so fun.
