A family session on a beautiful summer evening to celebrate a first birthday

On a beautiful summer’s evening I met up with this amazing family to commemorate their son’s first birthday with a family session. Gabriel is pretty much the cutest boy you’ve ever seen and his sisters are so sweet and beautiful.

One of the reasons I so enjoy photographing on location as opposed to a studio is it gives me an opportunity to capture the uniqueness of each family in their own home. That is the essence of lifestyle photography and it’s so fun and inspiring to be creative in different environments.

I loved this session because we were able to incorporate a lot of personal touches such as his tent, crib, and mini piano. The new family dog makes a brief appearance, as does the vintage truck Gabriel’s dad is restoring.

My favorite images are always those that convey the most emotion. Whether it’s a cheeky grin of a baby, the way a mother snuggles her baby and comforts her children, the delight of a father playing with his son, and the excitement of a little boy “driving” a truck, capturing these moments are what make me excited about photography.
