A natural newborn photography session for capturing authentic moments

Cheryl and Brandon recently invited me into their home for a natural newborn photography session to photograph Celina, their perfect little daughter. It always amazes me how you can see the personality of a baby right from the very beginning and how every newborn is different and unique. Celina, a dark haired and dark eyed beauty, melted my heart the way she just quietly studied the world around her and was so peaceful in the arms of her parents.

Cheryl and Brandon and I really clicked because I described my intention to capture their connection to Celina without the need of props and poses, which is exactly what they were looking for. I think Brandon especially appreciated this style because it was very easy and natural for him to relax in his home and enjoy the time with his wife and daughter. He is a high school French teacher so most of the time he was speaking sweetly to Celina in French and she was listening so intently. The kisses you see him giving her are all candid and unprompted. Cheryl was so smitten with Celina and was absolutely delighted to study her little face and perfectly formed hands.

Their adorable dog Zoe joined us for some shots and just came on her own to be with her family. When she sat on the back of the couch and studied them, Brandon and Cheryl laughed because they said that would reflect exactly what she was like. At the very end of our time together, after Celina had fallen asleep, Zoe came up and licked her hand and then gently settled right in to sleep beside her. Future best buddies right there.

I look forward to seeing Celina grow even more lovely and thoughtful as she thrives in her loving home with Cheryl and Brandon and Zoe.
